Time to update this spot after much hiatus.
After after reading Bosco’s and Belle’s hectic weeks, I appreciate my freedom alot more but still nearly half way through the semester, haven’t put myself down to any study. Mid-semesters looming and I’m not panicking…
Here’s a snapshot of my university weeks
Monday
6:30-6:55- Wake up
Before 7:30- Shower, Eat , Check E-mail
7:30 – Dad drives me to Uni. I haven’t driven in the morning for a while because I ceebs. Got my learner hours already so why bother heh. On the way, we will be listening to the Kyle and Jackie O Show.
8:00- Arrive at uni, pick up the SMH and read, or study, but for the past few weeks, have been reading all the politics.
9:00-10:00 – Anatomy Lecture. The one lecture no one can ever afford to skip.
10:00-10:30- Resistance Training: In order to learn how to build muscle for our muscle mechanics subject, everyone’s been forced to undertake a Resistance Training Program for Biceps on a Preacher Bench. 1 warm up set, 3 training sets. We found out our training weights from the first practical where we tried to find the weight which we could only do one repetition. From that, Training Weight is 80%, with Warm Up as 60% of that weight. We’re all partnered up to spot each other for our trainings but more than likely, it’ll be 6-8 of us together training using the same bench, taking turns doing repetitions. At the beginning of the training program, my one Repetition Maximum was 12.5kg but this possibly could be more or less since the weights jumped from 10,12.5,15kg etc. Now I’m currently training on 12.5kg, hoping to hit 15kg by the end of the program!
10:30-12:00- Basketball/Gym- Full workout.
12:00-3:00 Grab some lunch, and attempt to ‘study.’ I think I’ll actually do some study tomorrow since I’m like 2 weeks away from the first mid sems.
3:00-5:00- Muscle Mechanics- Literally learning about muscles, structure, how they generate force. Our lecturer keeps us somewhat engaged with demonstrations of people pulling on ropes, standing on trolleys. Not alot of content covered in these lectures because frankly, there isn’t much.
5:30-6:30- Whenever my dad picks me up and takes me home.
6:30 onwards- Shower,Dinner,Use computer, Study(none)
Tuesday:
Same as Monday until after Anatomy Lecture
10:00-11:00 Chill with Physio Buddies until our Muscle Mechanics Practical, Or I go to the gym with other Physios.
11:00-12:00 Muscle Mechanics Practical- Lesson content varies week to week but has got to do with something we’re learning in our lectures.
12:00-1:00 Grab lunch before going to Lunchtime Bible Teaching
1:00-2:00 Chilling with Physio Buddies, Study
2:00-3:00- Neuroscience, for the past few weeks we’ve been focussing on the anatomy but now have moved towards functions. Our lecturer for Neuroanatomy loves to give lollies out to people answering her questions. Keeps us motivated I guess. Too bad we only have one more lecture with her.
3:00-4:45- Catch Train to Parramatta and tutor Japanese.
4:45-5:15- Bus home
5:15 onwards- Dinner, Use Computer, Study
Wednesday
Same as Monday and Tuesday but…
8:00 – Neuroscience Lecture
9:00- Anatomy Lecture
10:00-Health Science and Research Tutorials (every two weeks)- Basically, learning how to write up a research report, topic on the link between smoking and health.Really dry and boring stuff I guess, but our tutor/lecturer is so enthusiastic about it, she should get a medal for it.
11:00-12:00- Resistance Training/Gym/Study
12:00-1:00- Growth Groups/ Bible Study with our First Year Physios
1:00-2:00 – Health Science and Research- Research Methods………quite the boring lectures, less than 25% of us turn up to these lectures.
2:00-3:00- Neuroscience Lecture
3 onwards- go home and do stuff
Thursday
Skipping to 8am
8:00 Health Science and Research- 8am lectures generally don’t attract too many people but when you put it with this subject, literally no one comes except diligent physios. I come because I’m there early in the morning.
9:00-11:00 – Neuroscience Tutorial – I can have a pretty long rant about my tutors BUT i won’t unleash it here.
11:00-12:30- Gym
12:30- Go home and yada yada
Friday
9:00-11:00 Anatomy Labs- Learning material from our lectures on the real specimens. Moving down from the pelvis to the foot. The foot is really a mess, it’s worse than the hand in terms of navigating in it.
11:00-11:30 Resistance Training
11:30-1:00 Gym
2:00- Meet Quentin to have lunch and read bible. If you want to join us, please do
4:00- 6:00- Kendo Training. Most trainings kill me but the last few weeks have been very nice, meaning we’re not training hard enough!
6:00 Go home unless having dinner with you awesome friends. Should we make Friday Night Dinners a weekly thing?
Or replace Kendo with working at ANZ Stadium.
But yes, that’s a very quick rundown of my uni week. It is so empty and relaxing. I bet you are all jealous and wished you did Physiotherapy, because it is so awesome. Nah, what should be there is at least 5-10+ hours of study which I haven’t been doing since Semester Started. Been mainly recapping on what we covered in the lectures for the day. Ok, maybe I am screwed for my mid semesters.
